    Its best to start with RISING PHOENIX first. Rising Phoenix Anniversary is an updated version of the first game so you could wait till that releases to get the best possible experience.

    Then its recommended that you play the short RISING PHOENIX Genesis game which I released as it is a prequel of sorts to the first game and the next game in the series.

    Then you have RISING PHOENIX Tales which is better experienced if you've played the first game but you don't need to play the first game to understand RP Tales as it is a separate story, but it'll help you understand what is going on.

    The next two unannounced games take place after RP1. But that is all i can say about that :)

    I know your post was aimed towards Tidus, but I know I'll be waiting to play Rising Phoenix Anniversary when that releases. I don't think I've played the original, so I'm looking forward to the enhanced edition.
